 Overview

just south of Cairo, Dahshur is a hidden gem where ancient wonders quietly rise from the desert sands. Unlike the bustling crowds of Giza, Dahshur offers a more peaceful, intimate glimpse into Egypt’s fascinating past. Here, you can stand in awe before the Bent Pyramid’s unique angles and the smooth, towering elegance of the Red Pyramid — two of the oldest and most well-preserved pyramids in the country. Surrounded by open skies and golden dunes, a visit to Dahshur feels like stepping back in time, where history breathes in the stillness and every stone whispers the secrets of an ancient civilization. It's a journey into the heart of Egypt’s architectural beginnings — and an experience that leaves you both humbled and inspired.

Itinerary

Begin your journey early in the morning, around 8:00 AM, to make the most of the day.
Drive Duration: The drive from Cairo to Dahshur takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on traffic.

1- The Red Pyramid

  • Overview:

    • The Red Pyramid, also known as the North Pyramid, was constructed by Pharaoh Sneferu (2613–2589 BC) during the 4th Dynasty.
    • It is considered the world’s first true pyramid because of its smooth-sided design.
    • The pyramid gets its name from the reddish hue of its limestone blocks, although much of the outer casing has eroded over time.

 2- The Bent Pyramid

  • Overview:

    • Also built by Sneferu, the Bent Pyramid is a unique structure because of its change in angle halfway up. The lower part rises at a steep 54-degree angle, while the upper part is more gradual at 43 degrees.
    • The change in angle is believed to have been made to prevent structural collapse, making the Bent Pyramid a critical step in the evolution of pyramid design.

3- Lunch Break

  • After visiting the pyramids, enjoy a leisurely lunch at a nearby local restaurant or return toward Cairo for dining. Many tour packages include lunch at a traditional Egyptian restaurant....
