 Overview

n the heart of Egypt’s timeless desert landscape, where the sands whisper the secrets of ancient dynasties, lie two of the country’s most fascinating and spiritually charged sites: Dendera and Abydos. These sacred places, steeped in myth and history, offer a journey back thousands of years to an era when gods walked among men and magnificent temples rose toward the heavens.

Dendera, home to the beautifully preserved Temple of Hathor, welcomes visitors with its intricate carvings, vibrant ceiling paintings, and a sense of serene majesty. It feels as if the spirit of Hathor—the goddess of love, music, and joy—still lingers in the air, embracing all who enter with her warmth and grace.


Itinerary ;


1- . Early Departure from Al gouna

Pick up  Time: 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, to maximize the time spent at both sites.

•Transport: You will travel in a private car, minivan, or tour bus, depending on the tour package.


2- . Drive from  Al gouna to Dendera

Duration: The drive takes about 1 to 1.5 hours (around 60 kilometers/37 miles) from Luxor to Dendera. 


3-  Visit the Temple of Hathor at Dendera

Temple of Hathor: Dendera is home to one of Egypt’s best-preserved temples, dedicated to the goddess Hathor (goddess of love, music, and fertility).

The Main Temple: Known for its incredible carvings, stunning reliefs, and the ceiling with the famous Zodiac of Dendera.



4- Drive from Dendera to Abydos

Duration: After exploring Dendera, it’s a 1-hour drive (about 80 km) north to Abydos, one of Egypt’s oldest religious centers. The route offers more views of rural Egypt.

5-  Visit the Temple of Osiris at Abydos

Temple of Osiris: Abydos is one of the most important archaeological sites in Egypt, dedicated to the god Osiris, the ruler of the underworld.

The Main Temple: The monumental structure, built by Seti I, is famous for its painted reliefs and the List of Kings (a listing of pharaohs).


6-  Lunch Break ;


7- Return to Luxor 

• After your visit to Abydos, you’ll start the journey back to Luxor, which will take about 1.5 hours.
